Red carpet fashion can be tricky, with most starlets choosing sex over style.
But Selena Gomez can do both, as she proved with the daring dress she wore to sashay down the red carpet at the MTV VMAs in New York on Sunday evening.
The 21-year-old looked ravishing in a dark blue Atelier Versace gown, which was - barely - held together with silver clasps.

The former Disney star perfectly complemented her dress perfectly with a slick of dark red lipstick and matching nails.

Not wanting to overshadow the dress, her hair had been minimally styled in a straight waterfall over one shoulder.
Selena appeared to have taken inspiration from another famous Versace dress - the famous 'safety pin' dress worn by Elizabeth Hurley to the 1994 premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
