Every girl needs to eat to keep her strength up while hard at work, and Vanessa Hudgens was no exception.

The 24-year-old was spotted having a quick bite to eat in between filming scenes for her latest zombie vs humans vs vampires flick, Kitchen Sink.

The High School Musical star was seen munching an apple as she walked around the set in Hollywood on Friday.

Vanessa might have started her lunch on a healthy note, but she was also spotted with a packet of crisps as she juggled an iced drink and mobile phone.

The young actress, who had been made to look much paler than her usual self, looked too busy to stop and instead had lunch on the go.

Her naturally dark hair, which had a hint of blonde at the ends, was worn in tight curls for her role in the film.

Wearing a short, pale pink dress, Vanessa looked liked she had been in the wars as her outfit was covered in blood and dirt stains.

Teaming the outfit with silver flip-flops, the star looked comfy in her strange attire as she chatted away on her phone.

Her busy day also included a quick change of outfit, into something a little sexier, which showed off her enviably slim figure.

The brown, crochet and figure-hugging dress was worn with a black bikini top.

The film, which includes Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick and Bob Odenkirk among its famous cast, is set to be released later next year.

The story is thought to focus on three teenagers as they try and save the world from aliens.

Vanessa Hudgens rose to fame as nerdy good girl Gabriella Montez on High School Musical.

But the 24-year-old has been keen to be a little more edgy in real life.

Vanessa did just that on Sunday, flashing skin in a tiny outfit while shopping in Studio City, California.

She rocked a boho-chic look on the day, pairing a black-and-white floral halter top over some denim shorts.

The crop top showed off her toned midriff and back while the shorts left plenty of bare leg on view.

Vanessa also sported some leather boots, a matching leather bag and a floppy purple sunhat to shade her eyes on the bright and sunny day.

Some eclectic bits of jewelry - including a silver pendant and several rings - rounded out the outfit.

Vanessa has been promoting her new movie The Frozen Ground, in which she stars alongside Nicolas Cage and John Cusack.

The thriller, which opened Friday, is based on the real-life hunt in the 1980s for Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen.

It's one of several darker projects Vanessa has taken on recently; she starred in the raunchy Spring Breakers and plays a runaway pregnant teen in the upcoming movie Gimme Shelter.

'It's nice to be able to sink your teeth into something,' she told The Hollywood Reporter. 'All of these roles kind of scared me a little bit, but that's how you grow.

Not that she's been all work and no play: The brunette beauty was rocking out at the annual Fuck Yeah Fest in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

'#fyf was fucking killin it last night. #KarenOisaBeast #worshipher,' she wrote on an Instagram post, making a reference to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's lead single Karen O.

She recently updated her dark brunette locks to a big and bouncy ombre dip-dye style.

And Vanessa Hudgens was clearly loving her new image, flashing her winning smile as she strutted around New York City on Friday in a sparkling jumpsuit.

The actress was clearly aiming for a glamorous look, sporting more make-up than usual with a bright red pout, heavy eyeliner and mascara, light shimmering shadow, and a touch of blush.

Vanessa's ensemble featured short sleeves teamed with hooped earrings and a collection of rings

Bright pink nail varnish and strappy wedge sandals completed the look.

On Thursday, the Spring Breakers star posted pictures of her new ombre hair on her Tumblr account.

She rejuvenated her dark brown hair adding extensions, as well as dying it a light brown shade on top and blonde at the tips.

Clearly proud of her new look, the star posted the three steps of the process, which included a trial stage of testing wig pieces against her hair.

The star captioned the three images: '1. Before: All natural. But not. For. Long!!! 2. Oh snap someone’s goin [sic] blonde again. Possibly. Lol 3. AFTER! Oh hay Lorelei ;)'

After the colouring was complete, Vanessa showed off her final look in a filtered photo with her hair styled in small waves as she donned a sheer daisy embroidered shirt.

The big reveal of her new hair was perfectly timed with the release of her new E! show with her friend and former co-star, Ashley Tisdale.

In the show, called Inner Circle, Ashley quizzes her friend with daring questions that lead to intimate answers.

She's made a successful transition from child star to up-and-coming dramatic actress with a string of potent roles in Spring Breakers and the upcoming The Frozen Ground.

So it's not surprising that Vanessa Hudgens would be in the mood for dancing as she made an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, on Friday.

The 24-year-old sported a bedazzling thigh skimming dress as she performed a playful jig in front of the live chat show audience.

To vogue or not to vogue? The 24-year-old got funky with Fallon in a typically playful interview

Showing off her hard-earned curves - derived from hours of sweaty work in Pilates and spin classes - the High School Musical alum's sparkly frock clung seductively to her limbs and pert derrière.

Decking out her slim 5ft 1in frame was a series of gold bangles, chunky rings, and large statement earrings.

Completing the eye catching ensemble was a pair of gold open toed stilettos as she cut up the chat show rug.

During the interview Fallon grilled Vanessa about a snap she posted to Twitter in early July.

In the tweeted portrait the actress can be seen ogling a massive pepperoni pizza that could easily feed a dozen hungry people.

And the comedian's bit involving her moment of indulgence clearly pleased Hudgens as she burst out into peals of laughter.

Just hour before her appearance on the chat show Vanessa posted to her Tumblr: 'Party timeeee. Happy Friday!'

The excited posting was clearly indicative of the star's enthusiasm for the upcoming weekend.

Meanwhile, Vanessa's new E! show Inner Circle with her friend and former co-star Ashley Tisdale premièred earlier this week.

In the series, Ashley quizzes her friend with daring questions that lead to intimate answers.

One clip shows Ashley probing her friend on whether she enjoyed kissing James Franco in recent film Spring Breakers.

Surprisingly Vanessa quipped: 'I'd rather kiss a girl than a guy.'

The star also admitted to having 'mad respect' for strippers after going to strip clubs to research her promiscuous role.

But the actress has also revealed that she was so far removed from her role as a prostitute in The Frozen Ground, that she didn't even recognise herself in the gritty character.

Vanessa told Nick Grimshaw on his BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show: 'There were so many different crazy situations I had to put myself in.

'But honestly a good stare into the mirror, would do me some justice because I didn't look like myself at all. Just remind myself who I was playing and just making it real.'

The Spring Breakers star also said while she loved acting in the crime thriller, she can't cope with horror films.

'I cannot watch scary movies,' Vanessa said. 'I can't do it. Frozen Ground is good because it's like a thriller. It gets into your head. But ghosts and things that just pop up and scream at you, I can't do.

'Because it's based on a true story, these events actually happened. My character is based on a real person.

'So there is definitely a weight that comes along with that. We shot in some of the real places that the events took place in.

The Frozen Ground documents the tale of an Alaska State Trooper (Cage) who partners with a young woman (Vanessa), who escaped the clutches of serial killer Robert Hansen to bring the murderer to justice.

The film opens in wide release on August 23.

And Vanessa Hudgens showed off the fruits of her labour as she flashed her toned and taut tum in a cute floral crop top.

Looking effortlessly chic in a bohemian-inspired ensemble, the 24-year-old actress showcased her sartorial credentials in her stylish pantsuit.

Providing a contrast to her skimpy top, the Spring Breakers star's wide-legged trousers proved a flattering choice as she headed out to the Bellacures nail salon in Studio City, California.

Vanessa ensured her recently-dyed flowing ombre locks made maximum impact by accessorising with a black leather turban headband, and opted for a comfortable pair of flip flops as she went about her day.

The former Disney starlet sheltered her eyes from the sun with a pair of dark shades and was carrying a fun leopard print purse as she left the salon.

They became firm friends when they filmed movie The Frozen Ground together, and even more so now they're travelling the globe promoting the picture.

And it seems Vanessa Hudgens and Nicolas Cage now even co-ordinate their outfits together.

The pair both opted for pink outfits on Saturday night as they turned out to the Ischia Global Festival together as they continued their Italian trip.

Nicolas, 49, stood out thanks to his vibrant pink linen suit, which seemed a rather odd choice apart from it matching with Vanessa's dress.

The 24-year-old actress went for a more understated hue but clearly co-ordinated with her castmate as they posed up for pictures next to each other.

Hudgens looked the picture of elegance in her halterneck floorlength gown which had embellished detailing from top to bottom.

Since arriving in the country the Spring Breakers star has made the most of her time by parting on the beaches, lapping up the rays and even enjoying some meditation time aboard a luxury yacht.

It was surely a rather exciting moment for the young star to be handed an award alongside the illustrious Baz Luhrman.
